About Us

Who plays WITS?
. women from 28 different countries;
. half are 40-50 years old;
. two thirds have begun playing WITS in the past year;
. half are new to tennis leagues but almost 30% have played for more than 10 years;
. 18% have lived in Singapore less than 2 years and 18% have resided for over 10 years.

What is the WITS format?
Three doubles lines per team play matches usually starting from 8:00-9:00am. The day of play varies, depending on the division. See below for more about the various divisions. A singles league runs at the same time as the doubles league. Only players already on the doubles team rosters can participate. One line per week plays a match. The season normally lasts 4 weeks and matches are can be played anytime during a specified week.

WITS has six divisions of play:

A top level players with experience and a wide variety of shots, foot work, power and spin
ALPHA strong, dependable players in competition play
B players with a variety and dependable selection of strokes
BETA dependable players but still broadening their competition play skills, stepping stone to the B Division
C good dependability of shots, although still lacking in depth and variety
D beginners, new to competition tennis

The divisions play on the following days:
Mondays or Tuesdays A
Tuesdays ALPHA
Wednesdays B & BETA
Thursdays C
Each team coordinates their own court location for home matches.

Prizes/Awards?
In the doubles league, the champions and runners-up in each division receive trophies, and there is a travelling team trophy awarded to the winners in each division. In the singles, a travelling trophy is awarded to the winning team, and the individual players receive coveted WITS champion bag tags.

An awards event is held at the end of each season to celebrate the season's achievements and present trophies to the winners.

If you are interested in participating in WITS and would like to join a team for next season please contact our Newcomers' Co-ordinator by filling in this form.

How do you join?
Anyone 18 years old or older can start up a team, and the team does not have to be associated with a club or association. It is recommended that teams have a roster of at least 8 players, with one acting as captain. The maximum number of players for the Doubles roster is 12 and for the Singles roster is 4. The registration fee to enter the Doubles League per team per season is $200 and for the Singles League $25.
