Kokoro Tennis Kids in Burma March 2008

At our end of season event in November 2007, WITS raised money for the Kokoro Tennis, Kids in Burma, a voluntary organisation working to help orphaned and poor children. On a recent trip to Burma, co-president Fiona Barton met up with Jimbo, who is not only the tennis coach but also looks after a number of children in his own home. Like most Burmese people he is kind and softly spoken and totally dedicated to helping these kids. They put on an amazing display of tennis especially for the visit. Despite their situation, these kids show incredible passion and commitment to their sport. Our fundraising efforts are being used to buy new equipment, shoes, racquets and so on. However, it is proving very difficult to get these items to Burma so I would appeal to anyone visiting to take some things with them - some boxes of new balls would also be appreciated!
